Benjamin Mazatis retains his NXT Gen Cup seat for 2025

Benjamin Mazatis

After a steep learning curve in the 2024 season, Benjamin Mazatis is back for a second year in NXT Gen Cup—more prepared, more experienced, and more determined to build on the foundations laid during his debut electric racing campaign.

A seasoned driver with strong results in GT racing, Mazatis entered NXT Gen Cup in 2024 as a new challenge, marking his first full season in a front-wheel-drive electric touring car. While the transition required significant adaptation, the German racer consistently delivered top-ten finishes, showcasing both speed and progress throughout the year.

“Last year, everything was new to me. Now I’m back to bring together all the lessons I learned and get the absolute maximum out of everything that’s in my control. If I do that, I know it’s going to be a great season,”said Benjamin Mazatis.

Mazatis also highlights the unique racing dynamic and atmosphere of the NXT Gen Cup as key reasons for his return.

“For me, NXT Gen Cup means great people, close battles, intense slipstreaming in qualifying, and strategic, intelligent racing. I’m really happy to be back!” he added.

His return not only strengthens the 2025 grid but also ensures that NXT Gen Cup retains a driver with both talent and insight into the series’ unique demands.

“Benjamin is an ambitious and hard working driver. Despite having no prior experience with front-wheel-drive cars, he made serious progress last year,” said Fredrik Lestrup, founder of NXT Gen Cup. “We’re excited to see what he can achieve this season now that he has a solid season under his belt and I know his focus is firm on the title!”

NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first electric junior touring car series, will once again race alongside DTM—Europe’s premier and best-known racing series—over four race weekends from April to August.

The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.

About DTM
DTM is Europe’s premier and best-known racing series and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2024.
